A Complete Natural Oral Care Routine, from Miswak to Oil Pulling
Nine daily steps inspired by Prophetic medicine and Ayurveda to keep teeth and gums clean, strong, and naturally cared for.
A routine, not a rescue
Strong teeth and calm gums come from small daily acts repeated for years. This routine blends the Prophetic sunnah of the miswak with Ayurvedic practices like oil pulling and tongue scraping. It supports — but does not replace — dental check-ups.
Morning
Start the mouth's day before breakfast:
- Copper water — store water in a copper vessel overnight and drink it on waking.
- Oil pulling — swish coconut or sesame oil for 10–20 minutes, then spit it out; never swallow.
- Tongue scraping — draw a copper scraper gently from the back of the tongue to the front.
- Brush — use a fluoride-free neem or clove toothpaste to clean and soothe the gums.
Through the day
Keep the mouth clean between meals:
- Miswak — freshen and clean the mouth at Dhuhr, Asr, and Maghrib times.
- Hydration — keep the mouth moist and rinsed by sipping water often.
- Cut the sugar — avoid pastries, fizzy drinks, and fast food that feed decay and inflammation.
Evening
Close the day gently:
- Floss — lift the food and plaque the brush cannot reach; be gentle.
- Gum massage — before bed, massage the gums with a suitable herbal powder such as triphala.
